AiR 2025 / Karolína Munková & Ludmila Jankovichová

A residency project by a duo of architects, exploring the role – and potential – of professions that work with existing materials in today's world.
February 17–March 2, 2025
Should we think of craftsmanship as a metaphor for care, or as an act of social and environmental responsibility? What value does skilled handiwork hold if it's neither an exclusive luxury nor a romanticized pastime? As the structure of our values shifts, how does our environment change? Can different building practices weave new networks of relationships? And what happens when we shake out the rug?
"We ask questions, sketch ideas, and wander through the reality of architectural practice in search of thoughtful answers to what troubles us. In the vocabulary of the construction industry, we dream up words like sensitivity, environmental care, and continuity, and we look for narratives that can break through the logic of economic efficiency."
The head cheerleaders of the Ministry of Maintenance urge you: Maintenance is passion, maintenance is fashion.
"On our journey through Pardubice, we savor a hot cup of chocolate with the icon of local paints and coatings, pay a visit to a feather-cleaning shop, and pick up a little chimney sweep figurine—to keep luck on our side at work. Between conversations with artisans, designing workwear, and engaging with traditions and rituals, we explore everything that defines care for our surroundings. – The premiere of this playfight is coming soon. Don’t forget to style up your outfit with a pair of work gloves!"
The OFFCITY AiR 2025 residency project is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the city of Pardubice. Thank you!
